Lost, Found and Looking: Ryker is a goofball waiting with sloppy kisses

If you are looking for a fun-loving, affectionate playmate, Ryker would be a great choice. This affectionate three-year old terrier/pit mix always has a big grin on his goofy face. He loves to play and is a fan of tennis balls. This is also a pup who is pretty sure there is no size limit to a “lap dog.”

Gooney (left) has loved having free roam privileges at the shelter. Originally, we thought she didn’t care for other animals, but now we realize it is more that she has great boundaries — she will let her furry compatriots know where they stand with her. This is a cat who can charm even a non-cat person.

In fact, even my husband, (the original confirmed non-cat person), was immediately drawn in by her warm personality and long loving looks. She enjoys affection and would love her very own home with someone who doesn’t mind a cat who needs special food.

A big thank you to our community – we literally could not operate without you. Fees do not cover the costs of being here for the animals and area residents in need. Your monetary gifts, your gifts of pet food and cleaning supplies, your gifts of time through volunteering, all show homeless pets that they matter, that they are worth saving and worth second chances. We are truly grateful to every one of you for caring about animals.

The shelter is open by appointment. If interested in adopting an animal, fill out an application at popehumane.org before calling 594-2200 to set up an appointment. Call if you need to surrender an animal or need help with pet food/supplies.

If you would like to drop off supplies for the animals next time you are out, top needs are paper towels, toilet paper and cleaning wipes. We always need 33-gallon trash bags and wet pet food. You can leave them at the front door and make out a receipt if you would like. Thank you for caring about homeless pets!
