Snow in time = Playtime!

The snow finally came to Maine. Last week some of the animals in Pope Memorial Humane Society’s care experienced snow for the first time, and we need to share it with you!

Big Papa, the six-year-old Mastiff mix, put fresh paws in the fresh snow for playtime. He bounded around the pavilion with his favorite blue toy spreading streams of drool as he had the best time! At 102+ pounds, this big, handsome, lovable guy is looking for a home prepared for his size, love of cozy couches, and drooly behaviors. In case you can’t tell by the stream of drool across his snout in the pic… Big Papa tends to express his zeal for life with drool. At this point, you probably get the drooly idea.

We should note Big Papa is not really a fan of other dogs. A home where he can be your pride and joy is best.

Adoptable rabbits Cujo and Kiki had a grand time playing in their very own snow boxes. Like a sandbox, only we replaced the sand with snow. The supervised snow play proved to be fun for all involved. These indoor bunnies love the coziness of the inside life but appreciate the outside being brought to them (sometimes) for some fun. Both Cujo and Kiki are looking for new homes. These adorable bunnies are friendly, love attention, and are litter box trained.

If you have questions about any animals at PMHS or are looking for more information, call the shelter at 207-594-2200. A reminder, Pope Memorial Humane Society is open from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, for public visits. If you’re not ready to adopt, that is ok! You are still welcome to visit the animals, give them some love, and maybe even a few treats. Cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, a parakeet, and even a few mice are ready to meet you!

Wish list: Bleach, string cheese, poultry-flavored pate-style canned cat food, wood pellets, and gift cards to local businesses to purchase supplies for the shelter.
