“Life in Color” by Spruce Head artist James Stephen Zoller to exhibit in May
The Craignair Gallery invites the public to the Opening Reception of “Life in Color” by Spruce Head artist James Stephen Zoller on Wednesday, May 31, from 4 to 7 p.m.
All of the proceeds from the sale of Zoller’s paintings will be donated to Pope Memorial Humane Society whose mission is “to ensure the compassionate care, treatment and placement of companion animals in transition and enrich the lives of pets and people in our community.”
Zoller is a self-taught Maine artist who has been painting for over 25 years. Growing up in San Antonio, Texas and traveling throughout Mexico heavily influenced his early style. He was inspired by the colors typically used in Mexican arts and crafts. Many of these vibrant colors continue to be used in his imaginative still-life paintings today.
“There is nothing more exciting to me, especially during the long winter months, than to walk into a studio filled with vibrant color,” said Zoller, in a news release. “Color gives me joy. Painting gives me joy. These still life paintings represent all of that joy.”
Life in Color is on exhibit from May 24 through June 20.
The Craignair Gallery, located at 5 Third Street in Spruce Head, is open daily.
