Matching Gift Magic: PMHS Reaches Fundraising Goal for Sherman Medical Fund
Pope Memorial Humane Society (PMHS) is thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of the $75,000 matching gift campaign, generously provided by Martine Richard LaBrie and Dr. Henry LaBrie of Friendship. Thanks to the unwavering support of our community, PMHS successfully raised $75,000, which was matched dollar-for-dollar, resulting in a total of $150,000 for the PMHS Sherman Medical Fund. This critical funding ensures countless homeless pets receive the medical care they need to find loving homes and families.
The match was successfully completed during the 4th Annual Bark + Brew in the Barn, where attendees gathered for an evening of drinks, dancing, and dining while supporting and celebrating the PMHS mission. The generosity of donors and the LaBrie’s gift have made a life-changing impact on countless animals awaiting their second chance at PMHS.
Established in 2020, the Sherman Medical Fund was created to honor Sherman, a tiny kitten rescued along with his siblings from a brush fire. At just four weeks old, Sherman and his siblings survived burns, including singed ears and smoke inhalation, thanks to the dedicated care of PMHS staff and community support. The fund continues to honor Sherman’s story by providing critical medical care to homeless pets in need.
The LaBrie’s generous matching gift amplified the impact of every donation made during the campaign. Their gift, combined with the generosity of our community, has made a significant impact on the lives of countless animals. “We are deeply grateful to Martine and Dr. LaBrie for their unwavering support of the Sherman Medical Fund,” said Tracy Sala, Executive Director of Pope Memorial Humane Society. “Their gift not only saves lives but also inspires our community to come together and make a tangible difference for animals in need.”
