Art for a Cause: Kassie Stanley at Pope Memorial Humane Society

There has been a long tradition of local artists supporting the work of Pope Memorial Humane Society. The Art for the Animals auction secured funding to purchase the land we are on and supported operations as an annual event for over twenty years. Continuing that tradition, the Art Wall allows artists to display their work and show support for all that PMHS does for the community and its animals in need.

All work exhibited can be purchased, with a percentage of the selling price donated to support the work of Pope Memorial Humane Society.

Pope Memorial Humane Society is thrilled to announce its newest exhibition of artwork, which is now being displayed on the Art Wall in the shelter’s lobby. The show, featuring pieces by Kassie Stanely, is on display and available for purchase through November 30th, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Pope Memorial Humane Society.

Kassie Stanley is an artist currently based in midcoast Maine. She grew up in central Maine and spent six years in Southern NH from 2017 to early 2024. She has a BFA in Studio Art from Plymouth State University. Her artwork has a strong focus on linear elements and bright colors, usually with subjects of fruits, plants, or nature.

Kassie is heavily inspired by abstract expressionism and much of her work draws from the visual ideals of the movement. Her desire to get others to see the beauty of color, nature, and conservation drives her work to be bright and intriguing. She uses acrylic mediums to draw colors and beauty out of existing natural subjects. Her current work reflects elements of the natural world as a fantastic abstract concept, working with close-ups and crowded and drawing the viewer in. Kassie uses her work to present an ideal of a more colorful world.

Pope Memorial Humane Society is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. We encourage our community to visit the shelter and see Kassie’s artwork and all the adoptable animals. If you are interested in exhibiting your work on the PMHS Art Wall, please email art@popehumane.org.

The mission of Pope Memorial Humane Society is to ensure the compassionate care, treatment, and placement of companion animals in transition and to enrich the lives of pets and people in our community.
