Imagine you work at an animal shelter, and someone brings in four kittens found with burns from a brush fire. You act quickly, but there is only so much you can do – these little ones must go to an emergency veterinarian who can treat their smoke inhalation and singed ears. You call the clinic and load them up for transport, hoping these fragile beings will make it.

Veterinary services cost the shelter over $125,000 each yearThe Sherman Medical Fund was started in 2020 to give donors the chance to help animals in dire medical need directly. Increasing numbers of animals come into the shelter because of medical reasons and community members’ inability to afford care.

Fortunately for this little band of ragamuffins, they all survived and were named after the Bonfire of the Vanities characters. The little one pictured above is Sherman. A caring foster took them all in, and all have been adopted. There are so many stories like this – you can help them recover and find loving homes by donating to the Sherman Fund today!
