Foster Homes Needed!
It’s summer in Maine. That means beach weather, fairs, festivals, and blueberry pie. And after a bit of a late start, it’s also Maine’s kitten season! PMHS sees an increase in pregnant and nursing cats, along with motherless kittens, that need foster homes to grow up big and strong.
Although kittens can be born anytime during the year, most arrive in the spring and summer months, particularly in a northern climate like Maine’s. Spaying and neutering can go a long way toward preventing this influx of homeless kittens from occurring in the first place. But once they’re here, they need help to grow up and find their forever homes.
Pregnant or nursing cats are placed in foster homes until the kittens are old enough for adoption. PMHS is looking for new homes to add to our foster family! Fosters help out with kittens and seniors, and other cats that need a home to recuperate from illness or injury. Foster families can also offer respite to dogs and other animals that need a break from the shelter!
If you are interested in fostering please fill out the online foster application. Foster homes are needed year-round, but most especially in the spring and summer months during kitten season. You can make a difference in the lives of homeless pets!
