Lost, Found, and Looking: Goliath Says Thanks for Supporting Animals!

From the desk of Chrys deLorimier, Pope Memorial Humane Society’s Development Director.

Sometimes it takes a bit of time to find the right home. Meet Goliath, a beautiful pup who weighs in at 102 pounds. This gentle giant came into the shelter with his four siblings when their owner passed. He loves to romp, is treat-motivated and talkative! Is there someone out there looking for a new family member? Fill out the adoption application.

We are thrilled to announce that the Sherman Medical Fund matching campaign was a success! Almost 500 of you answered our call to raise funds for shelter pets’ medical care and gave over $100,000 total. This means spay/neuter surgeries, medical interventions for cancer, healing wounds, medical attention for illnesses and much more. Animals in need thank you for your caring hearts!

If you missed the matching campaign, fear not, there are other needs. Did you know PMHS raises funds each year to help local, low-income people spay or neuter their own pets? These $100 vouchers help families with the surgery’s cost and prevent many unwanted litters every year. If you would like to help low-income people in our community afford pet sterilization, please donate online (select spay/neuter fund) or send a check to PMHS, PO Box 1294, Rockland, ME 04841. Be sure to write “spay/neuter” on the memo line. Sterilized pets live happier, healthier lives and our community is healthier with fewer unwanted pets.

Oogie Boogie is a fun kitty, he loves to roll in catnip, loves treats and toys. This 6-year-old, 11-pound guy has so much to offer. He’s found himself back at the shelter twice through no fault of his own. Could your home be his home as well? Come meet this great cat and find out if love is in the air!

If you are out shopping, we are very low on 33-gallon garbage bags, paper towels, laundry detergent and dry kitten food. The dogs really appreciate the tiniest Milk Bones as treats. Thank you to caring donors and community members for helping homeless animals!
