Lost, Found and Looking: Henrietta and Waya
From the desk of Theresa Gargan, shelter manager, Pope Memorial Humane Society. Learning to live in harmony with humans can take time for many cats. At the shelter, we are lucky to watch the process unfold. There is great satisfaction in earning the trust of an otherwise wary, scared kitty. Oftentimes, they will become the most loyal and loving of pets.
Henrietta is one of our resident cats learning that accepting kindness and love is not so bad after all. She is a gorgeous, orange-faced Calico of 4 years who spends her days soaking up the sun on the cat porch. Henrietta still greets us with a hiss but then allows head scratches and gentle touches. A quiet home with a patient family would be the perfect place for Henrietta to continue her transformation into the loving girl we know she can be.
Another one of our pets waiting for a home is 2-year-old Waya. With her over-sized Shepherd ears and beautiful black and brown Doberman coloring, Waya is one of a kind. Initially wary of strangers, Waya has blossomed with socialization. Her dream person would take her on hikes and runs but also like cuddling on the couch.
Henrietta, Waya, and all our other pets anxiously awaiting adoption can be visited Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Having a pre-approved application makes the process much easier. Click here to fill out the online adoption application.
Our wish list this week includes: bleach, kitten chow and canned pate cat food and gift certificates to Walmart, Staples and other local businesses.
