Lost, Found and Looking: Shelter Receives Donations, Holiday Cheer

From the desk of Events Coordinator Kasey Bielecki:

By the time you are reading this column, Christmas will have been celebrated. Presents were opened, cookies eaten (although I hope you still have some), and the only things under your tree might be pine needles and pet fur. Or is that just me?

At Pope Memorial Humane Society, the holiday spirit continues to shine. We are ecstatic at the outpouring of love for our 2020 Pet Angel Tree. During a year when donations are down 40%, you came out in full force to support local homeless pets in need. This year, Christmas came with not just ribbons and tags; it came with packages, boxes and bags.

Warlock can enjoy cozy, clean blankets because of the laundry detergent he was gifted. Splash has been able to enjoy yummy cat treats and her favorite canned cat food. Simba has a new Nyla bone to keep her busy. Diesel has his favorite canned dog food. Carrots and Sky have plenty of rabbit food and hay to keep them nice and cozy until they find their forever home. Buddy even has a mountain of new blankets to pee on!

Did you play secret Santa to a pet in our care at Pope Memorial Humane Society? If so, thank you to Kriste, Stacy, Barry, Ian, Stella, Heidi, Mitzi, Renee, Lindsay, Roxanne, Bailey, Tori, Sarah, Melinda, Crystal, Andy, Tayler, Kerin, Joette, Chris, Claudia, Sophie, Ashley, Debra, Lorraine, Ginny, Nicole, Alicia, Terry and all the names we haven’t listed.

Thank you for spreading comfort and joy this holiday season. Thank you for making the animals in our care that much more comfortable while they wait to be adopted. Thank you for making a difference.

Don’t forget, Pope Memorial Humane Society is still open by appointment. You’ve survived the holiday season, and as things (hopefully) begin to calm down, it may be the perfect time to adopt a new family member.

You can fill out our online adoption application HERE. Many animals never make it to our website because people with pre-approved applications are called first as animals become available. Kitten? Puppy? Rat? Guinea Pig? Whatever animal you are looking for, fill out the application!

Wish list: Canned cat food, cleaning supplies, canned dog food, small paper plates, hand soap and gift cards to local businesses.

Thank you!
