Lost, Found and Looking: Want to help dogs-in-waiting find fur-ever homes?
From the desk of Pope Memorial Humane Society’s Foster Coordinator, Brandi Moore.
Meet Woofie! (photo above) Woofie is, first and foremost, absolutely adorable in a funny kind of way, with a matching quirky personality! She’s also an insecure little girl who needs to gain confidence living in a home with kind people. She’s come a long way since arriving at PMHS several months ago, but now needs that bridge from shelter to adoption, which is a foster home!
Ibanez, is a scared little dog, who just saw her last puppy go home with a loving family! She was a stray, and is the third sibling to come to PMHS from South Carolina to find a home. Both of her brothers have already been adopted. She’s good on leash –as long as nothing startles her. She’s hesitant but willing to comply. Ibanez is housetrained and crate trained. She’s going to require time to trust people. She’ll be a lovely companion someday, but first she needs a foster that can help her learn to trust and feel safe in a home environment.
Meet Mother Mary (photo at left)! She’s smart, wily, playful and silly! Mother Mary does this high stepping prance and super deep play bow that is utterly adorable! She loves other dogs, but won’t take any guff. She’s also the mother of Ibanez! Mother Mary was a stray for a long time and needs a patient foster home, where she can practice living in a loving home environment, and learn to trust that humans will be kind to her. Mother Mary is arriving from our South Carolina rescue partner, Mutts and Mittens, shortly.
Then there’s Oliver! Oliver is a big, rambunctious, adolescent boy, who desperately needs to find a foster home that will continue his training, and provide some exercise for his body and mind, before he’s ready for a forever home of his own. He’s going a bit stir crazy being confined to shelter life! Oliver needs a kind and active foster, who will provide consistent boundaries for him to thrive in. Just like a lot of human adolescents!
If you think you have the home and heart to help one of these deserving dogs transition to a forever home of their own, we welcome you to fill out a foster application: popehumane.org/volunteer/foster-an-animal. Fostering is a life changing experience for both the animals and for you!
