New Art Wall Exhibition on Display at PMHS

Pope Memorial Humane Society is thrilled to announce the newest exhibition of artwork is now being displayed on the Art Wall in the lobby of the shelter. The current show, featuring pieces by Mary Ellen Ostherr, is on display and available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Pope Memorial Humane Society.

“I have been an artist my whole life but have just ‘owned’ it over the past 12 years. As I found more time to explore my creativity, it blossomed. Now, I can internalize this gift and let the world into my imagination.

Conceptualizing the mind as healer, is an incredible container for my work as an artist and psychotherapist. My training was based on the works of Carl Jung which has influenced what and how I paint. I approach my art from many of his theories. Archetypes and the individuation process show up frequently…  As the colors, shapes, and energy emerge, I allow the abstract interpretation of my unconscious to flow onto the canvas. Each layer of paint reflects the insights, feelings, and space of the moment. I use the shape of the circle in all my work, in either the visible or unseen layer, as a symbol of wholeness. It represents the circle of life that we are all on. I hope to present opportunities for the viewer to see the unseen and name the abstract for themselves — to be puzzled or connected in ways that are important to their worldview.”

Pope Memorial Humane Society is currently open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. We encourage our community to visit the shelter and see Mary Ellen’s artwork and all the adoptable animals. If you are interested in exhibiting your work on the PMHS Art Wall, please email art@popehumane.org.
