Rocky and Boston Look Forward to a New Home this Spring

This week’s Lost, Found and Looking column is from the desk of Pope Memorial Humane Society’s Shelter Manager Theresa Gargan:

Spring is in the air. The breeze is warmer, and the sun is calling us out to celebrate the longer days. What better way to welcome the season than by sharing it with a new best friend?

Whether it is a dog to take on walks around the neighborhood or hikes on our wonderful local trails, or a cat to share your lap as you enjoy the sights, sounds and smells from an open window as you sit on your sunporch. Spring is best shared with a buddy.

My pet picks this week would love Spring to be the beginning of their best new lives.

Rocky (above) is a 7-year-old Boxer mix with the most stunning chestnut coat. He is a big boy but incredibly gentle and very into getting attention. He loves car rides and fancies himself a lap dog. On his trip to Maine, he was reported to be an excellent co-pilot if a bit of a seat hog.

Boston (right) is a 3-year-old, black and brown tabby girl with a perfectly round little face. In fact, everything about Boston is tiny except for her personality. She has a great purr, a penchant for ear scratches and will return the favor with gentle head butts.

These are only two of the many cats, dogs, birds and bunnies waiting for homes at Pope Memorial Humane Society. Would you like to provide one (or two) of them a new beginning with your family? The first step is filling out an application, available on our website: popehumane.org. Upon approval you will be scheduled for an appointment and we will help you find your next, best buddy.

Wish List: The kittens are coming! Kitten Chow, Kitten Replacement Milk and heating pads would be greatly appreciated.
