Sansa is Delighted at Continued Community Support
From the desk of Pope Memorial Humane Society’s Shelter Manager Theresa Gargan:
We are very happy to announce that our Sherman Fund matching campaign has been a success! This fund pays for medical care for animals in need at the shelter, which is estimated to cost $80,000 this year. Our community blew past the $10,000 match our anonymous donor offered. This generosity prompted them to offer another $5,000. The total raised is over $38,000!
You can still make a gift to help animals and be included in this great campaign-via the website PopeHumane.org, or by mail to PMHS, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland ME 04841. Thank you to our wonderful community!
Now, I would like to introduce you to a few of the beneficiaries of the Sherman Fund available for adoption.
First up is Sansa (photo above), our beautiful German Shepherd girl. Sansa is just shy of 6 years old and pretty as a picture, sharp as a tack and sweeter than a whoopie pie. She is our work in progress, and has been getting training at the shelter with staff and volunteers under the tutelage of Carol Visser.
Sansa needs a shepherd savvy home willing to continue her training and help her to be the best dog she can be. She is dog selective, so a home as the only pet would be best.
Next, we have a bonded pair of kitties. Torreto and Letty have lived together from 8 weeks of age and truly enjoy being siblings. These two are full of personality and incredibly social. Torreto can usually be found helping the staff with adoptions, paperwork or anything else he can be in the middle of.
Letty loves attention, but isn’t quite as forward. Her favorite pastimes are playing rough with her “brother” and surveying her domain from the cat tower. Letty has been instrumental in bringing around the shy kitties she is housed with. Her love of people is changing their outlook on the human race. She’s going to make housecats of the whole group!

Wish list: paper towels, window cleaner and hand soap would be greatly appreciated.
