Thomaston Artist Jim Sollers Captures Shelter Cats in New Exhibit
Pope Memorial Humane Society is thrilled to announce its newest exhibition of artwork, which is now being displayed on the Art Wall in the shelter’s lobby. The current show, featuring pieces by Jim Sollers, is on display and available for purchase through the end of May, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Pope Memorial Humane Society.
Jim Sollers is a longtime freelance illustrator. He is known to sailors and fishermen through his work in nautical books and magazines, including Cruising World and National Fisherman. His art has also appeared on the covers of novels and in five children’s books published by Down East. He lives in Thomaston.
These acrylics of Pope shelter cats were done especially for this exhibit. “They’re wonderful models,” Jim says. “They don’t take any instructions, but they offer an endless variety of fascinating poses.”
Pope Memorial Humane Society is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. We encourage our community to visit the shelter and see Jim’s artwork and all the adoptable animals. If you are interested in exhibiting your work on the PMHS Art Wall, please email art@popehumane.org.
