Time for a PSA

PSA time!
Pope Memorial Humane Society is your community animal shelter. If you feel that you cannot take care of your pet, please call us at 207-594-2200. This afternoon our staff was made aware of a cat sitting in the grass by the marsh on Buttermilk Lane in Thomaston. Upon further inspection, we discovered that a cat (now named Chickadee) had been released from a carrier and left to fend for its own. The cat’s carrier was left open with some cat food in it.

This is NOT a post to shame anyone. We want everyone to understand that we are here for you. No judgement. Things happen. Please, we cannot stress enough, do not abandon your animals. Please do not leave them alone and scared. Pope Memorial Humane Society is here for you. We understand that parting ways with an animal can be heartbreaking, and we’re committed to working with you to ensure the best possible solution for you and your pet.

Chickadee is now safe and sound at Pope Memorial Humane Society. She is covered in fleas and has mats under her gorgeous grey fur. She is not currently available for adoption and will require medical care, including but not limited to vaccinations, flea and tick treatment, spay, and more. Any donations made on this post will go directly to Chickadee’s medical care!
